I’m Holly Hylen and I’m with Beacon Occupational Health and Safety. We do medical, safety and training and anything that falls into that realm. Beacon has been really fortunate. We’ve gone from two people to a team of over 175. Just recently, we acquired a company and found ourselves with some serious IT challenges. During that time we were trying to sort out how we were going to get past those challenges. We found a partner, TekMate. They are awesome. They have done an awesome job in breaking down big business systems and making them cost effective to small business. Three years ago we had multiple locations and it was really inefficient in that we couldn’t leverage our IT in a cost effective manner because we couldn’t afford the T-1 lines. We couldn’t afford the pipeline that was required. Now, four years later, we have this total scalable solution that TekMate and Alaska Communications has brought to the table. It isn’t a giant financial burden on a small business, yet we are able to deliver those same big business solutions to our clients. We support clients who have 24 hours a day operations. In that setting, our medical facilities are obligated to be open 24 hours a day. Something that we struggled with routinely was that IT support. IT was something that was critical to our success but wasn’t core to what we understood. Tekmate brings a solution called Constantly On. They have engineers that understand that 24 hours a day serviceability 7 days a week. If something goes down off site, in one of our remote locations on the North Slope, we can call Constantly On and start to trouble shoot that immediately. Alaska Communications is able to meet our national needs and our prominent international needs while still being a local partner. Being from Alaska and an Alaskan based company really means something. That’s Alaska, that’s who we are.
